The Tactical Readiness Cycle

Readiness requires a clear system.  You're too busy to be piecing together random programs in illogical order.  You need a clear path to goal accomplishment.

Modern Athlete uses the Tactical Readiness Cycle - inspired by the military's system to build combat readiness.

How to Use the Tactical Readiness Cycle

RED CYCLE Programs are designed to build your strength and endurance base. This is for athletes beginning their training journey or any athletes who have taken 60+ days off training.  Athletes returning from deployments or training exercises where equipment was limited may also consider a red cycle program to restore movement competency.

AMBER CYCLE Programs are general physical preparedness programs designed to improve strength, power, endurance, speed, and athleticism.  These programs use intermediate to advanced training concepts to build all physical qualities.  This is where you should spend a majority of your time training.  Unless you are 12-16 weeks away from attending a specific school, operational environment, or competitive event - this is your daily training.

GREEN CYCLE Programs are specific programs to prepare for operational environments (i.e. mountains/altitude) or schools (SWAT Selection / Ranger School, etc).  They will intentionally prioritize only the physical qualities required to succeed in the environment or event.  You MUST remain on an Amber Cycle program until 12-16 weeks away from attendance or you will reduce the effectives of a Green Cycle program.

Following return from deployed environment or school the athlete will return to either and amber or red cycle program.

Red Cycle

Warfighter: Foundations (12 Weeks) - Strength & Aerobic Base Building.  Develop strength and movement proficiency in the Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift, and Row while improving capacity to run faster and longer.

Back to Barbell (4 Weeks) - Builds proficiency in barbell movements following a return from injury.  Athletes using this program should be cleared by a medical professional to return to training. 

Amber Cycle

Warfighter (Infinite Progression) - The Modern Athlete flagship program.  Designed for military and first responders to build strength, power, endurance, and operational readiness.  Home to 700+ athletes who set the standard on their teams and in their community.

Warfighter + Mobility + Yoke Bundle (Infinite Progression) - The Warfighter program with daily mobility and upper body hypertrophy bolt on.

Green Cycle

AFSOC Prep Program (12 Weeks) - Preparation program for athletes attending AFSOC Selection - in partnership with Ones Ready.

Warfighter: Half Marathon Prep (14 Weeks) - Built for athletes who continue to train on Warfighter and use the strength days.  The conditioning on Half Marathon Prep replaces the standard Warfighter conditioning to prepare you for Half Marathon and greater distances.  The 14-week program includes a 2-week taper and should be implemented exactly 14 weeks from your race.
